Billionaire businessman and philanthropist Michael Spencer is selling a condo perched above New York City's Central Park for $16 million.

The 73rd floor spread at the swanky Mandarin Oriental hotel hit the market on Tuesday and is one of 66 residential units that sit above the hotel, within the North Tower of Columbus Circle's Time Warner Center.

"Chief among the reasons people love this building is the five-star services from being atop one of New York's finest and most established hotels," said listing agent Brian Babst of Compass, who has the listing with his colleague Daren Herzberg.

"Every element includes an emphasis on high-touch care, luxurious materials and Eastern-inspired wellness," he said. "The spa, for instance—accessible via elevator in your bathrobe and slippers, should you wish—is consistently ranked among the finest in the whole city."

Spencer, the founder of NEX Group, a U.K.-based business focused on electronic financial markets, paid $8.85 million for the place in 2004, records with PropertyShark show. He could not be reached for comment.

A private lobby leads into the almost 3,000-square-foot apartment and its entrance gallery. From there is the corner great room, fitted with floor-to-ceiling windows, high ceilings, French oak floors and those unmissable views of Central Park and the city that surrounds it.

The apartment has "very impressive dimensions—and of course, those captivating views—but [it's] also filled with wall opportunities and wide gallery halls to display large-format art pieces," Babst said. "The floor-to-ceiling glass windows are treated with UV-protection to guard against fading and the climate system keeps precise humidity control."

There's also a chef's kitchen with marble counters, an eat-in breakfast area and wine storage along with three bedrooms, including one currently used as a library and a primary suite with a dressing area and three walk-in closets.

"It's a ‘wow’ apartment that you never want to leave," Babst said.
